OCG Christmas

December, the month of celebrations! OCG were the most energetic participants of the project so far, doing all sorts of mad things, such as standing in bins, wanting a much-loved Japanese snack as a background and posing with statues!

Here are the pictures in question:

A Smarmy Gits Christmas

As December rolled in, various Christmas Meet-ups of all sorts of online groups began to pop up. The "Smarmy Gits" were more than happy to add themselves to my collection, with only a minor worry about the (very low) possibility of cyber-stalking.

Snow Adventures

As a flurry of snow hit our fair town, I headed out once again to collect more users for the project.
"Pestilence" added an exclaimation point to his name, posed for a photo then headed off to build a snowman!

Internet at the train station

I managed to grab a shot of "Shacho" just before she whizzed off to wherever via the rail. She had a bit of trouble deciding just which usernames she should add and so added them all!

The start of the project

After a month of miscellaneous projects I finally settled on working on pictures that depict the relationship between a person's real life representation and the persona they create for themselves on the internet. To represent this concept visually, it was decided that I should get each person to cover their face with a username or nickname they use regularly online. It could be anything; from the first part of their email address to their Xbox user tag. I decided early on, to give the person depicted a bit more privacy, that I would endeavour to not specify where the usernames are in use.

This initial image was taken at the end of November.

After having the concept explained to her, "pandimensionalchicken" excitedly offered up her username to the project. She was very proud of her username which had been adapted from a nickname given to her in her teenage years.
